We have a lot of clients that are churches and one of our content management products, Sky, is built specifically for churches. Plus, I used to serve full time in church communications and still help out at my own church in the worship and music arena. Put all of that together and you'll understand why blogs on church leadership and communications are a big part of my subscription list. So, hey, I thought I'd share my thoughts on a few of them. These are just my personal opinions. Agree or disagree, but here you go:
Church Marketing Sucks -- This is a pretty popular blog with some good articles and information. I think they tend to get a bit over-specialized and perhaps not as helpful to the average church leader, but I find some of their articles intriguing.
Church Communications Pro -- Cory Miller has built a great blog that is very helpful even to the novice church leader who wants to learn more about communications. Cory is a local fella who I enjoy spending time with and I think he keeps an interesting mix of content flowing. Warning: he posts about two million times a week so sometimes it's hard to keep up. Ok, that's a slight exaggeration.
LifeChurch.tv Swerve -- LifeChurch is an industry unto itself and if their style of church intrigues you then you'll definitely love their blog. I think their format of featuring posts from two different leaders with very different perspectives is probably one of the best around. Senior Pastor Craig Groeschel provides a lot of helpful content to fellow pastors and leaders while Bobby Gruenwald, head of innovation, provides a more technical look "behind the scenes" of what is arguably the most unique church machine around.
ChurchRelevance -- I'm pretty new to this one, but I like it. And it has a pretty nice design too, though I never really see it because I'm always using Google reader.
MicroExplosion -- Another one I'm pretty new too. The jury is still out for me but it looks promising.
The Road We Travel -- This is the personal blog of Rick Thompson, the pastor at my church. It's not really about communications, but more spiritual and "pastor-like". But hey, he's my pastor and I love him.
