Today, we're going to get to know one of Element Fusion's most beloved employees, Chad Jaggers. Chad has been with Element Fusion for almost four years and he is known for just being an all-around nice guy. In addition to championing niceness around the office, he also serves as IT Director, handles a lot of support, and rescues Light resellers in peril through his alter-ego superhero, the Web Concierge.
Evidence of Chad's smiley-ness is shown to the right. Plus, here's a short little interview with Chad:
Me: How did you get started in the field of information technology?
Chad: In high school we had a family friend that owned a computer store in
Houston called ProStar, and with some training I started fixing Intel 286 and
386 computers. That taught me a lot and started my foundation in IT.
Through college I would fix people's computers in the dorm and during the
summers and Christmas breaks I would go back and work at ProStar. After
graduating from college, I started working for a DSL start-up company
installing Cisco DSL products. From there, I worked for El
Paso Global Networks creating processes and procedures for working with
Cisco fiber optic products.
Me: Rumor has it that you are also in charge of supporting clients. What are your responsibilities and what does your typical day consist of?
Chad: The rumors are true. A lot of my time is spent answering support
emails. If a question continues to come up I post an answer to it on our support
blog. I'm also currently managing our HTML Xpress service. That is one
of our most popular services and scheduling the cut-ups and integrations
takes some time as well.
Me: What do you love most about your job with Element Fusion?
Chad: I enjoy helping people get from one place to the next. Meaning, I
like helping people get to the next level on their website, their
knowledge of the web, and their knowledge of our products. I love to
hear "oh, that is how you do it. I can't wait to do this on the
next site we do!"
Me: Do you ever get tired of people asking you for help? Do you get all grumpy when your son asks you to help him with something because you are so tired of supporting everyone?
Chad: No,
I don't get tired of people asking for help. I'm helping many
different people accomplish things on the website and helping them learn
new things that they might not have known before. For some people they
are stepping out in a new direction in life and the website is going to
be an integral part of their plan. I enjoy helping them in that
process.
I can't get grumpy at Dax. He is just too cute of a little guy! (see photo)
Me: Do you find that your extreme height also helps you to perform well at your job?
Chad: I don't think it helps me out at my job, but my towering presence is
good for helping people at Wal-Mart get things off the top shelf. :)
[author's note: see, I told you he was nice.]
Me: Would you recommend IT or tech support as a career choice? What advice do you have for someone who may want to pursue a career such as yours?
Chad: I think that having a career in IT and/or tech support can be
rewarding. It will take patience at certain times, but it is great to
help people!
