Google Zeitgeist: 2007 highlights extrapolated from search data

If you haven't already, I highly recommend you check out the Google Zeitgeist, in particular, the 2007 Year-End Zeitgeist. "Zeitgeist" is a German term that loosely means "the spirit of the age," and Google aptly captures said spirit through its analysis of search data over given time periods. The 2007 review is up and available for you to enjoy.

My favorite page is probably the Newsmakers page as it gives a nice overview of what people were most interested in throughout 2007.

Interesting stuff. My own highest search term was probably either "thesaurus" or "iphone." I don't have an iphone, but I was feverishly searching for news on the release last Spring. That's part of why I don't have one. I searched for different thesauruses because I've been writing a lot this year on two blogs and needed to expand my vocabulary.
