I've been working a lot on getting our products reviewed on various blogs. I've had a little bit of success, and met some great people along the way. I thought I'd share just a few tips in case you ever find yourself interested in tackling this.
-
Recognize that it is hard -- Don't go in thinking that this is the easy way to get marketing for your product. It will take time and effort to be successful.
-
Don't spam -- Don't go scrape a bunch of email addresses and blast a form letter to everyone. You're asking someone to spend some time to do something for you, so you ought to be willing to spend time enough to send them their own individual email. See #1 again.
-
Research -- Take the time to find blogs that fit your target audience and that publish the type of content you are suggesting. Again, this takes time. See #1 again.
-
Be nice -- Send a well written, friendly note. If you get a response, enjoy the dialog. As I said, one of the nice things about this process is getting to meet some great people in your field.
