New in Water, Sky, and Light: FTP

Today we're proud to announce the arrival of our latest feature to Water, Sky, and Light:  FTP access!

What's so great about FTP access?

  1. Quickly upload large batches of files.
  2. Upload large files with ease.
  3. Make backups of all your site's assets (images, files, designs).
  4. Edit your designs directly on our server using your favorite HTML editor (if it supports direct FTP connections).

How do you log in?

Follow these instructions carefully, as it's easy to misunderstand them.

  1. Connect via FTP to your website's URL.  (e.g., "www.mysite.com").
  2. Your username is your website username plus your website's URL separated by a forward slash.  (e.g., "my@email.com/www.mysite.com")
  3. Your password is your normal website password.

Who can use FTP?

You can use FTP if you are in the administrator role of the website you're logging in to.

That's all!

We are proud of this feature, and we think this will really hit home with some of our more technical customers out there.

For now, this is an unsupported beta feature, and with that comes the obligatory "use at your own risk" stamp.  If you run into problems, please send us your bug report, along with as much information as possible about your problem, to support@publishpath.com

Thanks, and we appreciate all your feedback!  Without your feedback, this feature wouldn't exist.  We have a lot more coming soon, so stay tuned!

I just used FTP access on one of my Light sites for the first time and it worked flawlessly! I uploaded almost 200 images in a hierarchy of many, many subfolders and then checked it all out via the image gallery through the typical browser interface...ITS ALL THERE!!! That just saved me about two or three hours of creating folders and uploading via the now old-school method for me. Whew! I also saw I can upload a Files directory and to Image Galleries! This will make updating my portfolio a breeze from now on and keeping certain client sites up-to-date much, much easier... especially those who have hundreds of .pdf files for instance. Thanks for this update! Glad to finally have used it! I'm excited to now go and back-up every site I've got running on this software... in only minutes!
