Oklahoma City's "new exuberance" highlighted in the New York Times

It's always nice to see the home town get some positive press. Last weekend, the New York Times featured a very nice write up about Oklahoma City, drawing attention to the booming energy industry and the significant revitalization going on downtown and around town. The article, entitled "Oklahoma City is Booming with Oil and a New Exuberance" even raises awareness of Oklahoma City's diversity as a central crossroads in the US. Here's a quote to explain more:

Newcomers to Oklahoma City might at first have a hard time guessing what part of the United States they’re in. A generally flat cityscape and the Chicago-style Art Deco architecture downtown, coupled with the friendly-but-not-too-friendly nods and hellos, hint at the Midwest. Jazz, blues bars and ubiquitous barbecue joints suggest the South. But the wide vistas, blast-furnace winds from the surrounding red-dirt prairie and preponderance of American Indian shops (Oklahoma has 38 sovereign tribes), pickups and cowboy hats indicate that you are indeed in the West.

Anyway, it's great to see some outside recognition of the uniqueness of our humble little town. I can tell you as one who live here than the "new exuberance" really is evident. Thanks, New York Times, for noticing. Nice work!
