Scheduled upgrades for Water, Sky and LightCMS

We will be upgrading Water, Sky and LightCMS with some new features on Tuesday night. As a result, we will need to take the system down briefly to complete the upgrade process.

The scheduled outage will begin at 11:00PM CST (GMT-6) on Tuesday, February 5th.  We always estimate a worst-case scenario which is one-hour for the upgrades to be completed. Last time, our upgrades took less than one minute to complete and we are hopeful that will be the case again this time. During these upgrades, your website will be offline. We apologize for the inconvenience.

These upgrades include some great new front-end features that we know you will enjoy. Check back on Wednesday and we'll post a full rundown of the enhancements for you to review.   Thanks for your patience as we work toward continually improving Water, Sky and LightCMS.

In Australia, we are 17 hours ahead of you which meant the upgrade took place around 4-5pm Wednesday. My client rang saying he's navigation had suddenly gone missing from the site (very strange, I thought). He was right! So I logged into his account and tried uploading the templates again to restore the missing JS file that runs the global nav. Unfortunately that part of the Design Manager wouldn't let me do it. So I'm stuck waiting for a response to my support email. Meanwhile my client is fuming because he sent out an email to all his contacts telling them to take a look at his new site. Ouch! Any way to avoid this in future? By the way its now 7:43pm, almost 4 hours after the incident first occurred.

Anthony, I apologize for the trouble. We did experience a minor glitch with the upgrade that affected a very small number of sites on our system. The issue affected sites that utilize the "alwaysShowChildren" attribute of our menu tokens. It caused the menus utilizing this attribute to fail to display. This issue has now been resolved and your site appears to be functioning normally. Thank you for bringing the bug to our attention so we could correct it. Again, our apologies to you, especially given the time frame of the situation in your time zone.

Anthony, we have also discussed our upgrade deployment schedule and for most future updates, we plan to schedule them in the early morning (our time) rather than late at night so that we will be in place, in the office to troubleshoot any issues that may arise immediately following the upgrade.

Thanks for the reply and fixing the issue. As more international clients jump on board with Light CMS I think its a very wise idea to upgrade in the early morning and have staff on-hand to resolve subsequent issues. We love Light CMS.
