Search Engine Optimization Blogging Test

The power of blogging in Search Engine Optimization has been talked about for quite some time in the Search Engine Optimization Circles. We recently put that power to the test and it passed with flying colors.

Search Engine Optimization Test – The Beginning

I was recently promoted to the Director of Internet Marketing (more about that at a later time) and have been working on a couple of different tasks for my new position. One of them is to post something about Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Marketing or Search Engine Advertising at least once per day. I’m sure there will come a point where I slow that down to one to two times per week but the main intent is to build our blog, thus increasing our validity on the search engines as an active company that posts relevant information about Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Marketing and Search Engine Advertising.

Search Engine Optimization Test – The Implementation

The implementation was first to establish our site as one that is active with relevant content about the three topics: Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Marketing or Search Engine Advertising. Since we already had a web presence that was established and a blog that was pretty active my job was easier than starting from scratch.

I started implementing this plan Monday April 2, 2007 by creating my first post entitled “Personalization and Search Engine Optimization (SEO)”. The post was pretty keyword rich and explained the effect of Google’s personalization and how it will play a role in search engine optimization.

Surprisingly enough the second post is where I found results. I decided to talk about Search Engine Advertising. This post was entitled “Search Engine Advertising Woes?”. I decided that it would be a good idea to Digg this blog to gain maximum exposure and see what effect adding it to Digg would have as opposed to just putting it on our blog. This article received 6 Diggs the first day, which isn't great but I am happy with the result.

Search Engine Optimization Test – The Results

The results were pretty impressive to say the least. Today we have rankings for Search Engine Advertising, Search Engine Advertising Company and Search Engine Advertising Companies. Don’t take my word for it see for yourself:
  1. Search Engine Advertising
  2. Search Engine Advertising Company
  3. Search Engine Advertising Companies

As you can see blogs can not only help you keep  your web site up to date and entice users to come back for more information but they can actually help you obtain search engine rankings quickly and effectively. I would like to take this time to thank you for reading this article and please come back and read my daily dose of Search Engine Optimization news and don't forget to Digg it:

I have to admit, as a 10 year veteran as a B2B Internet Consultant I had my doubts about how my cutomers could benefit or even USE a Blog. I love it when I am proved wrong. After seeing the different ways my customers have benefited from the usability and moved up in the search engines using blogs and podcasts, I can honestly say I am now a true believer. Thanks for helping my customers and I see the blogging light! Maria Epperson Sr. Internet Consultant Element Fusion

I have read your SEO Article and you do supply a lot of good information.Through my own research I came across several ways that are very effective in building backlinks however no one talks about them even though people are using them.

Frank, thanks for the input and I do agree building backlinks is time consuming and very painful. I am developing a new post that will lay out some of the pitfalls I have run across and some of the research I have done on building solid links. Are there any other topics that you would like to open for discussion?
