I was reading this post from 37 signals which is all about this article on cnn.com. It's all about the Apple store, and there's one particular thing that caught my attention. It's this paragraph which describes how their unique concept of the "genius bar" was born:
" 'When we launched retail, I got this group together, people from a variety of walks of life,' says (Ron) Johnson. 'As an icebreaker, we said, 'Tell us about the best service experience you've ever had.' Of the 18 people, 16 said it was in a hotel. This was unexpected. But of course: The concierge desk at a hotel isn't selling anything; it's there to help. We said, 'Well, how do we create a store that has the friendliness of a Four Seasons Hotel?' The answer: 'Let's put a bar in our stores. But instead of dispensing alcohol, we dispense advice.' "
I started thinking about our experiences with our own content management software for designers and agencies, Light, and realized that when a designer first starts bringing their clients onto the system, there is a small period of "learning curve" for most as they are getting used to the ins and outs of how things work.
We wanted to make that learning period as short and painless as possible. It's good for us because it gets more resellers up and running and it's good for resellers because it's, well, short and painless.

Chad, the web concierge
So, our own concierge was born -- the web concierge. Actually, he was born quite a long time ago, but his new title and responsibilities have just taken hold. Chad is the perfect concierge. In fact, if I were staying in a nice hotel, he's the guy I would want working at that desk.
So Chad took on the task, we announced it to our clients and that's the story. The web concierge is alive and well here at Element Fusion. If you're a designer or agency and would like to find out more about how Light and the web concierge can work for you, why not sign up for a free online demo or send me an email. We'd love to have you on board!
