Tutorial: managing the text on your forms

The recent upgrades to Icebrrg, our form builder, have opened up some new possibilities for managing the display text on your forms. These new features are available on all forms through Icebrrg itself as well as forms integrated into any of our content management system products.

Fields and inputs

Sometimes, a single field on your form might have multiple inputs. For example, the "name" field by default has two inputs, one for "first name" and one for "last name." Two of the form's text labels are designed to apply to the field as a whole, while three of them are designed to apply to each individual input within the field. Here is a visual reference and listing of the five types of text you can add.

Field Title: This title is the the top label on your form field and it appears in bold by default. You will almost always want to use a field title. As a bonus, the new version of the form builder allows you to enter much longer titles than the previous version allowed.

Input Name: Each input block within your field can have a name which appears directly above the input.

Default text: Each input block can have default text, which appears inside the input and can be replaced by the user when they enter their own text into the field.

Input Note: Each input block within your field can have a note which appears directly below the input.

Field Instructions: Field instructions will appear at the bottom of your field area.

Not necessarily all at the same time

You don't have to use all of the text fields at the same time, but having all of the options gives you ultimate flexibility when laying out your form. Here are a few visual examples of some potential field layouts using various combinations of the available text labels.

How to add the text

When you're editing a form and you click on any field, the field editing box pops up to the left. The "properties" tab is where you set field-related text including the field title and instructions. The "input" tab is where you set input-related text such as the input name, input note, and default text.

Great improvements. One other thing I would have liked to see is the ability to change the "submit" buttons label to something like "Order now" or what have you. I dont think that was included in this update correct? Thanks for the great work on the other items.

You are right, that was not included in this update, but it is something we have on the plans for a future release.
