I have used Gmail since its inception, so when Google Apps for domains first opened its beta doors I came running in. I signed up for it yet did not use it until about 6 months ago. At first I still used Outlook 2003 in conjunction with it. I did that for about a month. Then I let loose of the burden that was Outlook 2003.
Organizing I am now no longer stuck organizing all emails that come in to their respective folders. I was freed of this time-consuming organizing task. When I am done reading an email I will respond to it and then archive it. That’s it. With 2GB of growing storage space, I can keep as much email as I want. The search feature always finds what I want. Even if I type something incorrectly it still knows what I want to see. I don’t worry about what folder something is in or accidentally putting an email in a wrong folder never to find it again.
ConversationsMy emails are arranged in handy conversations now. If I have 18 forwards, replies, CC and BCC’s, I don’t mind. They are all on one message and I can expand or shrink any of the messages to see what has been written. I don’t need to hunt around for what I said or what somebody is responding to. It's all there.
Spam & Virus Protection
Google also has some of the best spam blocking around. Out of the hundreds of spam messages flying around my inbox, only one or two a week actually get through. I had very good rules set up in Outlook 2003 to block spam, but it just wasn’t enough sometimes. I even had a 3rd party spam blocker, but even then it was over powered sometimes.
I think have Google Apps for domains has saved me about ten to fifteen minutes a day of deleting, finding and organizing email. That is time that allowed me to write this post.
