WaterCMS allows quick deployment of new site about four day work week

PLEASE NOTE: The website referenced in this post represented a short-term initiative of the parent organization which has now been discontinued. Therefore, the working4ok website no longer exists.

The idea of a four day work week has been all over the news the past few days. Stories in local and national publications have been drawing attention to the possibility of allowing employees to work four ten-hour days rather than five eight-hour days in order to save on gas and energy costs. In Oklahoma, the idea is being debated at the state government level, and one of the agencies in the midst of the action is Element Fusion client, the Oklahoma Public Employees Association (OPEA).

OPEA's website runs on WaterCMS, which allows the organization to manage their own website and content. They even utilize WaterCMS's blog element to publish their own organization blog. Recently, OPEA published a blog post revealing some of the results of an online survey they had conducted about the four day work week. The survey results showed a great deal of interest in the four day work week concept. In a short time, that blog post receive over 75 comments from readers, an overwhelming response for the organization.

How to launch a new site in just a few days

Given all of the interest surrounding the topic, OPEA made a bold move this week to launch a new, separate website that is 100% dedicated to the four day work week issue. But with the timeliness of the topic, they needed to get their site up and running fast. That's where the WaterCMS system proved itself invaluable.

OPEA simply visited their Account Manager and clicked "add a new website." In a matter of minutes, they had a second website up and running under the very same WaterCMS account.

Next, they visited the design manager on their original site, downloaded their custom design template, and uploaded the very same template to their new website. This gave them a new site that matched the look and feel of their main organization site, now ready to accept the new content.

Finally, using the simple-to-use WaterCMS tools, they were able to quickly build out the pages and content for their new site, complete with their own header graphics, a separate blog, a contact page, press information, and more. Within a couple of days, OPEA deployed a separate, unique website that still matches the look and feel of their organization.

You can visit the new website at www.working4ok.com.

And it's free!

The new site doesn't add any cost to OPEA's monthly charges because they are utilizing WaterCMS's free website package to run it. They have a fully functioning sub-site up and running and they don't have to pay a thing for hosting or for the use of the software.

We thought this creative use of the WaterCMS system by an organization quickly responding to the events around them was worthy to share. Let us know how your organization uses the WaterCMS, SkyCMS or LightCMS systems in unique or creative ways. We'd love to hear about how the software has helped you meet your needs.

Bummer. It looks like the "www.working4ok.com" link doesn't work any more.

Thanks for the heads up, Jessica. It seems that site represented a short-term initiative for the parent organization so they have recently taken it down.
