Web design faux pas to avoid

The faux pas listed below are in no particular order.  This is used for educational purposes only.  These are things that all designers have done in the past.  Knowing these issues is half the battle.

Centering Everything- Centering all the text on your page makes it hard to read the text.  Centering a few things would be considered alright, but not whole pages.

Fonts O’ Plenty- The style sheet should dictate what fonts are used on the site.  That will keep the site consistent.  Copying text in from Microsoft Word into a content management system with an HTML editor will copy the text style from word and override the style sheets.  Copying text from Word into notepad, or different plain text editor will help this not to happen.

Multi-Colored Sentences- Again the style sheet should be observed and it should have all of the allowable colors for that site that match your overall color scheme.  There might be header or link tags that are a different color then the body text and as long as it is done through the style sheet.

TEXT IN ALL CAPS- YOUR VISITORS WILL SAY STOP YELLING AT ME, I SEE YOUR TEXT.

Comic Sans- There are some fonts that get over used and then there are fonts that get so over used that people create websites against that font.  http://bancomicsans.com/home.html

Laughed so hard at the last one. "Absolutely no Times New Roman or Comic Sans" is one of my rules for our sales people.
